It’s hard to remember when buying music meant driving to a store and browsing bins of records and cds. Movie gallery, which owned the hollywood video brand, went into bankruptcy last year. If you live outside middle america, you probably haven't heard of family video, which has roughly 770 stores mainly in the midwest and canada.

Netflix started with a basic rating system, based on big data and completely based on how good or bad a particular movie or show had been rated. Don’t get me wrong, they loved their business model, but they believed in it so much that they were unable to see opportunities as they arose.
